WATER LADY

The Water Lady is a representation of the period between life and death.

The Water Lady is based on the Greek Goddess Leukothea. She was a mortal princess named Ino who fostered Dionysos. As a result, Hera punished her by throwing Ino's husband into a murderous rage. Ino escaped with her children by jumping into the sea. The sea gods welcomed her and she gained the name Leukothea.

In the Odyssy by Homer, Leukothea saved Odysseus from drowning after his raft was destroyed. Her backstory and her actions towards Odysseus are what made her the perfect starting point for designing the Water Lady.
